An APK built from HTML is roughly the size of the app shell — a few megabytes — plus your files, compressed. A one-page tool or calculator typically ends up around 4–6 MB; an app with a few megabytes of images or game assets around 8–15 MB. Images, audio, video and fonts make up almost all of the difference.
Typical sizes
| App | Your content | Approximate APK |
|---|---|---|
| Single-file calculator | ~50 KB | ~4–6 MB |
| Ebook with 30 images | ~2 MB | ~6–8 MB |
| Casual HTML5 game | ~5 MB | ~9–12 MB |
| Catalogue with 300 photos | ~15 MB | ~18–20 MB |
How to shrink it
- Resize images to the size they are shown (rarely over 1080px wide on a phone) and convert to WebP.
- Use one variable font, Latin subset only.
- Compress audio to mono Opus or MP3 at 64–96 kbps.
- Delete unused libraries, source maps and demo pages.
Builder limits
HTML2APK accepts 5 MB of zipped content on the free plan and 18 MB on Pro. Google Play's own limits are far larger.
Frequently asked questions
Why is my tiny HTML file a 5 MB app?
The APK includes the native app shell, AndroidX libraries and icons, which are the same for every app. Your HTML adds very little on top.
